Sequoia’s Mission & Vision

Mission Statement

To Glorify God by being a church that embraces a real relationship with Jesus, encourages people to follow him as disciples, and empowers them to help plant churches that do likewise.

In other words, at Sequoia we want to do 3 simple things, get real with Jesus, get real with others, and start new churches that do the same thing.

Vision

We want to people to get real in every aspect of their lives, therefore our church will be a place where that can happen. There are five key areas for people to get real in:

1. Real Relationships
In our increasingly vitrual world, people have lost what it is like to have a real relationship with God and with others. Jesus said that we are to “Love the Lord with all of your heart…” This is our most important relationship, we cannot get real in our relationships with other people until we first get real in our relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

2. Real Maturity
Getting real in our maturity means to take on the mind of Christ. The Bible says to “…be transformed, by the renewing of our mind.” Jesus commanded his followers to teach others to obey everything that he told them. There is a word for this it is called discipleship. It is learning to live and act like Jesus.

3. Real Service
We are called to “love our neighboor as ourselves.” Our neighbors are not just the people who live next to us, they are people everywhere in our communities, countries and in the world. Jesus called us to serve one another in love.

4. Real Outreach
Light is not meant to be covered and hidden, we are to share the good news about Jesus with everyone. Getting real in our outreach means that we authenticaly share our good news with our community through love in kindness, not agruments and dogmatics. Jesus charged his followers to “Go into all the world and make disciples…” We cannot make disciples if we don’t share our good news with others.

5. Real Worship
We are utlimatliy created for worship. To literealy give worth to our creator. Because of Jesus, we are able to experience true worship. The is why we are commanded to love God with all our heart, mind, strength because everything we do is to bring glory to God.
