Core Values

Simplicity:
At Sequoia, we do not want to be overly complex as a church that is filled with every kind of program that fits every kind of need. Rather, we want to keep a sharp focus on Jesus and the mission at hand and our committment to embrace him.

Authenticity:
We want to be a place where people can get real in every aspect of their lives. We want them to see that there is nothing more real than having Jesus as Lord of our lives. We proclaim the full gospel and not merely a religion. A gospel that preaches the life, death, ressurection, ascension and return of Jesus. That the kingdom of God and reign of Jesus Christ is now and we look forward to his return.

Community:
People can get real when they are involved in the community. At Sequoia, we love the community around us and we want to be a blessing to our neighbors. We also want people to experience authentic community in the church. This happens through small groups. It is our desire that every member of our church will be in a life changing small group. We foster steps to make that happen.

Empowerment:
We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit and we know that God has equipped us for the works of ministry. We believe in the Five Equipping gifts found in Ephesians 4:11. We always want to empower and release people into ministry and most importantly to use their gifts to start reproducing churches.

Multiplication:
Jesus told his disciples in Matthew 25:14, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” Furthermore, God’s very first command to his creation was to “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth…” We believe that it is through the church that the gospel will be carried out around the world and therefore it is essential that we multiply through the birth of new churches everywhere.
